OUR BLUEBERRY BUSHES
Planted in the Spring of 2023, four cultivars were chosen to ripen at different times and span the entire picking season. A thousand bushes have dwindled down to a few hundred, but we are grateful to be:
Biloxi – a southern highbush. Very early bearing with possible picking as early as first week in May.
Sharp Blue – also a southern highbush variety. Early producer ready for picking from mid-May
Legacy – a northern highbush variety with berries ripening from May through August
Premiere – our only Rabbiteye variety, is favored for mid-summer pickings.
Although the varieties were focused in different sections of the field to facilitate batch pickings, each section is interspersed with different cultivars and promises a mix of blueberry cultivars in your bucket. One thing is very certain, they ALL are YUMMY!
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Please read Full Disclaimer Before Scheduling your Visit
In Georgia, Agritourism indemnifies/ absolves/releases farm operators from liabilities due to injuries or accidents on the farm.
Your safety is our priority, and we want you to enjoy your visit.
The following are suggestions towards that goal.
– Protect yourself from the elements – sun, bugs, wildlife. Use /bring extra sunscreen, bug repellant. Wear long sleeves and pants and closed toe shoes fit for a farm
– Stay hydrated
– Do not visit if you may be sick
– Wash your hands before entering to start, and after you finished picking
– Good health practice requires washing the berries before eating them. You may ask farm staff for samples (that you can wash and taste) from today’s pick area when you check in.
– Please watch your steps. Absolutely no running. The ground may be uneven. Do exercise caution if/when stepping across/between the beds/rows so as not to trip on the irrigation lines.
The blueberry patch is fenced in, and we conduct frequent surveys for wildlife of relevance. Please let us know if you spot anything of concern.
We are glad you chose us, enjoy your visit and come back soon:)
